Rosie is a registered Connemara mare by the Class 1 stallion Blakehill Sparrow, out of a Class 1 Connemara mare by Hojbjergs Bright Star. A genuine, kind pony with a lovely temperament, she is looking for a knowledgeable home to continue her education.

 

Rosie was purchased recently for a child with mild learning difficulties, but it has become apparent that she is still too green and inexperienced for a rider who needs a completely established pony. This sale is no fault of Rosie's—she simply needs a rider who can continue to build her confidence and mileage.

 

She is schooling well on the flat and is improving with consistent work. Rosie works in a soft, natural outline and is attentive to her rider. She is not a lazy kick-along type, but equally she is not overly forward or sharp. She goes happily from the leg and offers a nice, uncomplicated ride.

 

Rosie has been introduced to jumping and happily jumps a small course of fences. She has also schooled over a handful of cross-country fences and has shown a willing attitude, giving someone plenty to build on. She would make a fun Riding Club, Pony Club or all-round pony as she gains more experience.

 

Out hacking, Rosie is happy to go alone and doesn't nap. She has been sensible out and about, although she can become more reactive when riding with other horses or in unfamiliar environments. This is simply due to her lack of experience rather than any real bad behaviour, and she improves with confident, consistent handling.

 

She is a pleasure to have on the yard and is good to catch, groom, load, travel and handle. She has a genuinely sweet nature, enjoys attention and is easy to look after day to day.

 

The only reason Rosie is not suitable for her current owner is that, when faced with something spooky or a busier environment, she can look to her rider for reassurance. Unfortunately, when her rider becomes anxious, Rosie loses confidence too, making them the wrong partnership. She would thrive with a confident, sympathetic rider who can continue exposing her to new experiences and allow her to mature into the pony she is capable of becoming.

 

This is a genuinely heartbreaking sale, made only so that her current owner can find a more established pony to enjoy. Rosie is therefore offered at a fraction of her original purchase price to secure the right home rather than achieve the highest price.

She recently passed a full five-stage veterinary examination.
