Skittle – been there, seen it, done it, got the t-shirt.

 

A really fabulous mare with so much to offer. She is an absolute dream to deal with on the ground, both in and out of the stable. Not marish in any way, loves fuss and attention, and is very polite and mannerly. She has no recorded breeding but is believed to have Darco lines.

 

Skittle has been the main ride for a teenage boy for nearly 4 years, during which time she has done a bit of everything – Pony Club camp, event camp, unaffiliated one day events, showjumping and dressage. More recently she has been ridden by mum, enjoying pleasure rides where she is impeccably behaved – happy to stand quietly for a drink stop at the pub or wait patiently on the trailer while you chat.

 

She is happily jumping around 90cm courses with plenty left to give. She has the scope and attitude to go on and would easily affiliate BS. She is brave to a fence, not fazed by fillers, and will step up and go against the clock if asked.

 

On the flat, Skittle has competed at numerous dressage outings with respectable scores. She is well schooled with three correct, balanced paces and a nice way of going. She has been competing at prelim level but has all the attributes to progress further.

 

Cross country, she is safe and genuine. She is great in open spaces, brave over her fences, and has jumped water, ditches, steps and skinnies. She would make a super contender for the season ahead.

 

Skittle hacks well both alone and in company and is good in traffic.

She is good to load, shoe, catch, clip etc, and is a very easy horse to have on the yard – settles quickly and genuinely enjoys her work. No vices or quirks, just a straightforward, honest mare who is very easy to like.

 

This is a very reluctant sale on behalf of her owner, as the teenage rider has lost interest and she is too big for the younger child. A genuinely sad sale, and she will only go to the very best of homes.
