Midge is a very loving horse with an abundance of talent and, without a doubt, one of the bravest horses we have had the pleasure of selling. He is a horse who absolutely loves his job, has a serious amount of ability and will always give you his best. He has so much to offer the right person and is a horse you can’t help but admire for his attitude, bravery and genuine love for what he does.

By OBOS Quality, out of a mare with Clover Hill in her breeding, Midge has a pedigree that speaks for itself, with bloodlines very often seen throughout the eventing world at the highest levels.

Midge successfully evented up to Novice/2* level in 2023, proving himself to be a very capable and competitive horse across all three phases. He was consistently clear showjumping and cross country, and his bravery is second to none. He is straight, forward-going and incredibly genuine, with a serious jump and a real desire to get the job done. He is the sort of horse who takes you to a fence, gives you plenty of confidence in his own ability and absolutely loves being out on the cross-country course.

Midge was equally consistent in the dressage phase, regularly producing pleasing tests with respectable scores. He works in a correct outline, is well established on the flat and has been very well schooled. He has a good foundation to work from and is more than capable of producing a nice test, making him a lovely all-round prospect for someone wanting a horse with experience and ability across the board.

More recently, Midge has been out showjumping, jumping numerous Discovery classes on a ticket, as well as enjoying cross-country schooling and outings doing dressage. He has continued to prove how much he enjoys getting out and about and having a job to do.

He hacks alone and in company, is good in traffic and is a forward-going, forward-thinking horse who enjoys seeing the world. He is not a lazy ride and is always thinking ahead, so he would suit someone who enjoys a horse with plenty of enthusiasm and a real zest for life.

On the ground, Midge is an absolute pleasure. He is good to shoe, box, clip and load, and is generally so easy to deal with in every way. He has a wonderfully kind nature and a lovely personality, and despite all his talent and ability, he is a horse who really does want to be your friend. He has so much character and is incredibly easy to fall in love with.

Midge passed a five-stage vetting and full X-rays in 2023.

Midge is not everybody’s ride. Although he is a very experienced horse, he simply loves his job a little too much! He is brave, keen and full of enthusiasm, and he can be a strong ride, particularly for someone who doesn't enjoy a forward-going horse. We bought Midge in the spring with the intention of getting out eventing, but unfortunately, he has proved to be too much horse for us in this respect.

This is absolutely no reflection on his ability or attitude towards his job; in the right hands, with a rider who enjoys and can channel his enthusiasm, we believe he has so much to offer. He needs a confident, capable rider who appreciates a bold, forward-thinking horse and wants to make the most of his talent.

His price reflects our desire to find him the perfect home rather than anything else. We want Midge to go somewhere he can enjoy his job, continue doing what he loves and be appreciated for the talented horse he is.

He really is a special horse with so much to give, but he would not be for the faint-hearted.
