Socks is a genuine model of a horse — a big, friendly giant with extensive experience eventing and competing.
An Irish Sport Horse by West Coast Cavalier out of a Big Sink Hope mare, Socks is exceptionally well bred, with both Cavalier Royale and Elm Hill featuring in his pedigree. He is a talented yet sensible horse with a kind temperament and a very reliable nature.
Over the years, Socks has successfully competed at numerous events up to and including BE Novice / 2*, building a lovely record that reflects his straightforward attitude and versatility. He consistently produces a quality dressage test, shows plenty of scope and carefulness showjumping, and is brave, genuine, and straight cross-country.
More recently, Socks has been enjoying unaffiliated competitions and is comfortably jumping 1.10m tracks. He happily cruises around courses, confidently taking on everything asked of him and remaining forgiving if presented on a missed stride. He has also taken part in pleasure and pub rides, where he has proven to be exceptionally mannerly and easy to handle.
Socks has three beautiful paces and, despite being a big horse, feels naturally balanced and light to ride, even in a smaller arena. He has achieved good scores at BE Novice and Elementary level dressage, and while he would suit a pure dressage home, he equally thrives on variety.
He hacks confidently both alone and in company, remains sensible in open spaces, and is good in traffic. Socks is easy to shoe, clip, load, and travel, and stands quietly on the lorry at shows. He is a handsome horse full of character and would undoubtedly become someone’s best friend.
Offered for sale only because the owner’s son has lost interest in riding, and Socks is too big for the mother and sister to continue with.
Socks is realistically priced for a horse with his experience and achievements, as finding him the right home is the absolute priority.
