Dutton is a superb example of a traditional Irish Sport Horse, by the world-renowned Cruising out of a mare by Welcome Flagmount. He combines an excellent temperament with genuine rideability and talent, making him a very attractive all-round prospect.

 

He previously competed in Ireland up to 1.20m with minimal faults before moving to an amateur home, where he has been a fantastic teacher, helping his rider gain confidence and experience within British Showjumping. Dutton is forgiving and straightforward to a fence—he will happily jump from a missed stride, cruises comfortably around 1m tracks, and has the scope to go against the clock if desired. He is unfazed by fillers, planks, and water trays, and would make a fun and reliable partner for someone looking to compete and enjoy their jumping.

 

Dutton has also enjoyed a few odd days hunting, he is mannerly and extremely brave jumping, he has also done pleasure rides and riding club shows and has been away to camps. There really is so much to like about this horse!

On the flat, Dutton is equally capable. He has three expressive, elevated paces with a good natural rhythm. Despite his size, he is well balanced and light in the arena. He schools comfortably at prelim/novice level and has the potential to progress further, while maintaining a willing attitude—he enjoys his work but also benefits from variety.

 

Dutton is a pleasure to hack, both alone and in company. He is reliable in traffic and sensible in open spaces, and is happy to pop logs, small fences, and even head out to the pub—making him a genuinely versatile and enjoyable horse.

 

He is good to shoe, load, catch, and clip, and is polite and easy to handle on the ground. He does pull a face when being tacked up, but this is purely a minor quirk and he is not dangerous in any way.
